GCHSCHL Alumni

The Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League is proud of it's players and it's history.

With the rapid growth of the game in Central Ohio in the late 1990's and into the new millenium, the GCHSCHL has played a large part in growing the game. In 1998 there was only one high school hockey team in the greater Columbus Area (Upper Arlington High School Golden Bears). With the inception of the GCHSCHL in that same year, that number grew to 8 teams. Ten years later in 2008-2009, there are now 12 varsity and 6 club high school hockey teams in central Ohio. Of those 18 teams, 14 have been members of the GCHSCHL.

In addition to the GCHSCHL's teams that have moved on to start Varsity programs, the GCHSCHL's players have also moved on to continued success in the sport. Advancing on to play at the Junior and College level, the GCHSCHL continues to develop some of Central Ohio's best hockey tallent.

Here is a brief sample of some of the GCHSCHL Alumni success stories:

VOGELHUBER 1ST COLUMBUS BRED NHL DRAFTEE
Congratulations to former St. Charles Cardinal and Ohio AAA Blue Jacket, Trent Vogelhuber, who becomes the first central Ohio product drafted by an NHL team. Vogelhuber, a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets with the 211th pick in the 7th round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Vogelhuber played for the St. Louis Bandits of the NAHL (Junior A) in the 2006-07 season and will play for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL (Junior A) in 2007-08 after being selected fifth overall in the 2007 USHL draft. Vogelhuber plans to play at Miami University (CCHA NCAA DI) in the fall of 2008. Congratulations to Trent as he paves the way for future generations and makes Columbus and central Ohio hockey proud.

GCHSCHL ALUM RUDASILL SIGNS WITH OSU
Former Olentangy Brave, Todd Rudasill, becomes the first GCHSCHL player ever to sign with an NCAA Division I team as he commits to play with the Ohio State University Buckeyes for the 2007-2008 season. After leading Olentangy to the GCHSCHL Blue Jacket Cup Finals in 2004, Rudasill went on to play for the Columbus Junior B Blue Jackets of the CSHL (Junior B) in 2004-2005, and has been with the Alpena Ice Diggers of the NAHL (Junior A) for the past two seasons. Todd finished 2006-2007 as the second leading scorer in the NAHL with 89 points (33 G, 56 A) in 59 games. Congratulations to Todd as he continues his progress to the Division I level.
